Adverse reactions:

The following side effects may occur: Breast development in men; sore breasts. The following may occasionally occur: Fluid secretion from the nipples, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced production of sperm, liver function disorders, disorders in the functioning of heart and blood circulation, increased or reduced appetite, insomnia, fatigue, confusion, accumulation of liquid (swollen fingers, swollen ankles), hot flushes (sudden transpiration and feeling hot), depression, skin rashes, discolouration of urine, dizziness, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth, anaemia, reduction in the number of white blood cells and/or blood platelets, certain disorders in the blood (methaemoglobinaemia).

An interaction may occur when Flutaplex is used at the same time as warfarin (medication which reduces the coagulation of blood). If patient is using warfarin or other medicines, ask the doctor or pharmacist for advice.

f flutamide is used for a lengthy period of time, make sure that contraception is adequate in connection with a possible effect of flutamide on sperm. This only applies in patients who have not undergone a surgical castration as part of the treatment of prostate cancer. Special Patient Groups: Patients suffering from reduced liver and/or kidney function may likely experience problems when using flutamide. If the patient is suffering from cardiovascular diseases, the risk exists of retaining fluid during flutamide treatment. Consult the doctor if the patient’s liver or kidney function is deteriorating or if the patient’s cardiovascular problems increase when using flutamide. Effects on the Ability to Drive or Operate Machinery: No data are available on the effect of flutamide on the ability to drive or operate machines. An effect, however, is not expected. Use in pregnancy & lactation: Not applicable since flutamide is only used in men. Use in children: Flutamide tablets are not intended for children. Pregnancy category D
