Indications:

Olbetam is a medicine which is used in hyperlipidaemia.

Contraindications:

Olbetam is contra-indicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the drug and those with peptic ulceration.

Adverse reactions:

The frequency of these sideeffects is unknown • skin rash or rashes • erythema • headaches • general feeling of being unwell • muscle pain or tenderness • joint pain • urticaria • angioedema • bronchospasm • anaphylactic reactions • weakness • dry eyes • gritty eye heartburn • stomach pain • nausea • diarrhoea • eye or eyesight problems • gastrointestinal problems • muscle inflammation • vasodilatation of the skin which may cause a sensation of heat, flushing or itching

Interactions:

The following types of medicine may interact with Olbetam: • statins • fibrates

Warnings:

Mild to moderately decreased kidney function. This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.
