The "Sexiet" Cigarettes in Eyes of Smokers

(ePharmaNews) – "Kind of tall, neither fat nor lean, wears gold and from a prestigious family", this is the cigarette of dream for many smokers according to a new study published in BMJ two days ago.

The researchers did an online survey that included young Australian smokers. The participants were asked to determine the most "attractive" cigarette and the one that has the best expected quality and taste based only on pictures of the cigarettes that were divided into three groups; the first included five cigarettes with different length and diameter, the second contained another five with different filters, and the last group had four cigarettes with different patterns and brands.

Results showed that the most preferred length and thickness is consistent with the global standards of tobacco industry, and that men perceive thin cigarettes as less attractive in general, while having a gold band was the best predictor of the quality and the taste according to the survey.

The researchers also found that branded cigarettes had better reviews than non-branded; and that more prestigious brands were better rated compared to budget brands.

It is worth mentioning that a previous study concluded that people consider packets labeled with "light" or "silver" as better tasted and less dangerous than other packets, and that they get more affected by framed, big warning labels. "The results should be used to limit the smoking phenomenon" The authors said.

These results and others will only serve as the fuel for the current war between tobacco company to produce the best cigarettes and health care organizations that tries to limit the prevalence of this deadly habit.
